Description

What it is The Haval H1 is GWM’s entry-level SUV from 2020. It’s basically a jacked-up hatchback built for city driving. The 1.5L engine is naturally aspirated, 77kW/138Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual. No turbo, no auto option in most markets.2. Pros Price & value: Cheapest SUV Haval sold at the time. Lots of kit for the money — touchscreen, Bluetooth, rear camera, airbags on higher ec: Light car + small 1.5L = ∼6.5-7.5 L/100km in mixed driving. Cheap to run. Ride height: Easier to see over traffic and handle bad roads/curbs than a normal hatch. Warrant when new: 5 years/100k km was solid for the segment back then.3. Cons Performa: 77kW is underpowered on highways and with 4 people + luggage. Overtaking needs planning. Interior quality: Hard plastics everywhere. Feels budget, which it is. NVH: Engine gets noisy above 3500 rpm. Wind/road noise is noticeable at 110 km/h+.Resale: Weaker than Suzuki Ignis, VW up!, Toyota Etios Cross. Demand is lower now that H1 was discontinued. : 4-star ANCAP for older H1, but it lacks advanced driver aids like AEB, lane keep.4. Reliability & ownership Engine and gearbox are simple and proven. No major systemic issues reported if serviced on time. Common complaints: AC can be weak in hot climates, infotainment lags, paint chips easily. Parts availability is decent via GWM dealers, but aftermarket support is limited compared to Toyota/Suzuki.5. Who it’s good for If you need the cheapest new-feeling SUV for city use, short commutes
